The Boys & Girls Clubs staff are dedicated and professionally trained and are there to provide guidance for the teens through all activities. The counselors will also provide them with support and be a listening ear for them as they grow and mature. Being part of the largest club in the country and over 100 years of experience the Boys & Girls Clubs provide current and varied programming to keep all our members active and engaged. Our teen programs provide a home away from home where teens are explore new interests, developing new skills, making new friends and having fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Teens are not simply “older children;” they have reached a developmental stage that requires a different strategic approach to recruitment, retention, marketing, staff interaction, space utilization and programming. In addition, the needs and developmental abilities of younger teens (13 to 15) vary from those of older teens (16 to 18). The Teen Center will provide a lasting impact with teens in their communities and give them a positive outlet to spend their time outside of school.

	EDUCATION: National Graduation Rate 2007 - 70% Glynn County Graduation Rate 2007-08 - 66.8%
	Glynn County School System did not achieve the 2008 AYP Georgia State Designation. Adequate Yearly Progress : To meet AYP, each system and the state must meet the following criteria: 95% Participation, and Academic Performance Governors Office of Student Achievement
	CRIME: Glynn County Youth account for: 54% of motor vehicle thefts, 38.8% of all burglaries, 19.5% of all robberies 10% of forcible rapes, 17.2% of offenses against family (Kids Count 2004)
	GANGS: Some of the reasons for joining a gang may include: A search for love, structure, and discipline, A sense of belonging and commitment The need for recognition and power, Companionship, training, excitement, and activities A sense of self-worth and status, A place of acceptance The need for physical safety and protection
	TEENAGE PREGNANCY: Teens who are unsupervised during after school hours are 37% more likely to become teen parents. In 2002, births to teens accounted for 16% of all births in Glynn County (Georgia Department of Human Resources - Division of Public Health)
